TAP098 The Long Narrow
Weavers near Chiang Mai, Thailand the descendants of tribal groups such as the Karen Tribe are known for their remarkable warp ikat cottons made on a backstrap loom. That WARP ikat tradition informs this fabric by the use of resist dyed thread in the warp rather than the weft threads. The black warp has abstract ikat areas while handspun thicker warp threads in blush shades of pink and lavender give the piece definition.
