VW 211 Jungle Ikat with Rooster
Thai villagers live with their animals close by under the house which is built on stilts. Rice farmers in NE Thailand live close to nature and stories of man and beast abound. It is said that the god Indra, concerned that followers of Buddha may not rise in the morning early enough to make his meal, changed himself into a rooster and became the herald of wakefulness each day, the morning alarm. The rooster symbolizes non-material desires, and is one of the three animals, in addition to the pig and snake, that accompanies one into the circle of birth and death.
