CAM22 Rosette and Lozenge Motif
CAM22 Rosette and Lozenge Motif
Woven by expert artisans this piece represents a high level of technical skill and artistry by weavers working to preserve Cambodia's textile skills and achievements. As a dyers art, this polychrome ikat "hol" is produced by binding the design into groups of weft threads, dyeing one color then another in a succession of dye baths involving unbinding and rebinding. The piece is further distinguished by the elaborate ikat border along one edge of the silk which attests to the skill of the dyer. It is an excellent example of Khmer traditional ikat weaving and dyeing.
