Handspun, dyed and woven in Laos, weavers near Savannakhet excell in the indigo dyeing arts. This style and design is woven and resist-dyed with indigo for the traditional tube skirt worn all over Thailand and Laos. Weaving is still woman's work carried out around the traditional teak house. In previous generations ones's loom skills established a young girl's readiness for marriage and perpetuated local customs and traditional textile arts. The use of white borders is an innovation popular now along the Mekong River.
