Serpent Nagas are the most prevalent motif in Thai and Lao textiles from along the Mekong River. Lines of Naga couples meet together in this piece forming heart shapes as noses join suggesting fertility. The density of the detail and liveliness of the design makes this an outstanding piece. The woman artisan who tied the resists had the required steady eye, perseverance and a high level of skill from years of practice.
